Trisha Kaplan
Director, Centre for Trail Excellence
Trisha Kaplan is the Director of the Centre for Trail Excellence. She has dedicated her career to making the outdoors more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Trisha has spent more than a decade at Trans Canada Trail, where, prior to the launch of the Centre, her work focused on supporting trail projects across the country, building capacity in the sector, and advancing accessibility and inclusion. Her background also includes extensive experience in parks, outdoor recreation and community development, with roles at the Government of British Columbia and the City of Toronto.
Trisha serves as a member of the Accessible Standards Canada Technical Committee for Outdoor Spaces and as Chair of the City of Penticton’s Municipal Accessibility Committee. She holds a BA in sociology and philosophy, a diploma in outdoor recreation management, and is a designated RHFAC Professional. Since beginning her career in municipal parks and recreation at age 16, she has been guided by a lifelong belief in the importance of free, public outdoor recreational opportunities.
